Gun Control in the United States of America
For this project, I wanted to pinpoint the issue of Gun violence in the United States. Over the years, mass shootings have gone up rapidly, and something needs to change. I started off researching gun violence and gun laws in the United States, and gun laws areo9und the world. Then I used that research to create my project. I wrote my legislation for the United States-based of on what I think should be changed. I also made an art piece.
Synthesist
I used this thinking skill througho9ut this project in many ways. For the History portion of my project, I took different gun laws that already exist worldwide and put them together to create one legislation on gun laws for the United States of America. For the art portion of my project, I made a mosaic where I used different things around my house to create something new.
History
For the History Division of my project, I began by looking into various laws worldwide regarding gun laws and gun control. Next, I researched gun violence in America and found the things that I wanted to change. After gathering information, I then used that information to write my Legislation for the United States. This legislation could also be described as gun control. I also wrote a one-pager that explains how I used synthesist in the project. Below you can find my final draft of my legislation and my one-pager.
One Pager is Below
First, I looked into different gun laws components, including what guns to ban, gun permits, and background checks. All of these things are just pieces of a gun law/Legislation. So I looked into how different countries and how they handle the topic in these different categories. I took bits and pieces from different places to create one legislation that I think would work best for the United States of America.
After extensive research, I decided I liked how Australia handled background checks. So I added tighter background checks to my legislation. This means a requirement for more tests and screenings before buying a gun. Then on the issues of Gun permits, I created my take on that issue and concluded that I wanted Gun licenses to be something that not everyone can go and get. I wrote in my legislation that I wanted more background checks and a mental health test given by a doctor required before you can get a gun permit. Then on the topic of What guns to ban, I decided to look at the statistics of what guns are used in most mass shootings. After research, I decided that ArmaLite guns were the most dangerous to our society. In my legislation, I banned all ArmaLite weapons, also known as AR's.
In conclusion, I created a bill that included different elements from different places and ideas, but together, they create something new and different with a new meaning. Together all of these components create a safer United States. I include the ArmaLite ban to ensure that mass shootings would happen less often and protect our community. I added background checks to the process of buying guns to make sure it is harder for people suffering from mental illnesses and that are not fit to own a firearm to own a gun. Lastly, I added the Gun permit renewal to make sure that only people who are "fit" to own a gun or have a gun permit have a firearm to ensure our fellow Americans' safety.

Art
For my project's art portion, I created a mosaic of an AR-15 on a stop sign shaped mirror. I started off collecting things around my house, like tiles and a mirror, and put them all together to create something new. I started with gluing each piece individually using the tile adhesive and let it sit for 24 hours. Second, I Used the grout float to spread the grout and used a wet sponge to clean it up and remove the excess. After letting it sit for 24 more hours, I sprayed it with white vinegar and dusted it off with a paper towel. Last I used Tile mosaic polish and shined it. Below you can see the finished product.
English: Collage Essay
For English, I wrote my Collage Application essay. I decided I couldn't write an essay that explained to me without talking about my hard working mind and motivation to succeed. First, I wrote my first draft, then a second, and then put a final essay in the current format. Below I put my finished college application essay. Enjoy!
